CSA 3 – Answer

Deep sedation (but not burst suppression) with no evidence of seizure activity – On the CSA all the peaks and the yellow SEF line  are positioned all the way over towards the left hand side indicating a low frequency (SEF of 1Hz). The raw EEG shows delta waves in keeping with deep sedation. The CSA is relatively flat with no spikes of high frequency/high power activity indicating that seizure activity has been terminated. However there is no evidence of burst suppression on either the raw EEG or the CSA (this would be indicated by breaks in the solid SEF line and bursts of high frequency activity interspaced with no activity on the raw EEG).

The thiopentone infusion was increased and burst suppression was demonstrated both on the CSA and the formal EEG recording shown below.
