CSA 4 – Answer
Focal seizure – note sudden onset of asymmetry between the two sides due to an increased frequency (peaks and yellow SEF line on CSA1 have moved towards right hand side, together with an increased value for SEF1) and power (increased height of peaks on CSA1 together with an increase in the value of TP1) on the left sided CSA1. Seizure activity is also visible on the left sided raw EEG, whereas the right sided EEG trace remains relatively flat. This is focal seizure activity affecting the left hand side of the brain, manifesting itself as right sided cycling movements. Following administration of a lorazepam bolus the abnormal movement stopped and the CSA returned to baseline.
